First pose
Your paper, charcoal, and pencils are waiting for you. There is no expectation of perfection, only an opportunity to look closely and make your first marks.

The long pose
Beginning with shorter gesture poses and moving into longer studies, you'll learn to capture the energy, balance, and character of the figure in front of you. Your instructor will guide you through techniques artists have used for generations while encouraging you to develop your own style.

By the end
By the end of the evening, you'll have a collection of sketches created through the same practice that has shaped generations of artists. Each page is a record of your observation, experimentation, and growing confidence.

Every great painter first learned the body by drawing it plainly, in black and white, one careful line at a time.

The oldest way to learn to see.
Long before cameras, digital tools, and modern classrooms, artists learned by observing the human body directly. From Leonardo da Vinci to Michelangelo, drawing from life was the foundation of understanding movement, proportion, and expression.
Our figure drawing sessions bring that tradition into a relaxed modern studio setting: one model, one instructor, and a welcoming space where anyone can learn to observe and create.
For every skill level
Figure drawing has long been a cornerstone of artistic training, but you do not need years of experience to begin. Our sessions are designed for curious beginners, hobby artists, and anyone who wants to explore drawing in a supportive studio environment.
Our live model poses in undergarments throughout the session. The focus is on learning, observation, and creative expression in a comfortable and respectful setting.
This session is also a No Phones Friday, our installment of the Mindful Fridays series. Phones go in a basket at the door for the evening.
One instructor walks the room through a sequence of poses, short gestures building into one longer hold, while our one live model works with you for the evening. The model and the poses both change from night to night, so the page you leave with is never quite like the one from the session before. Sit wherever you like, work at your own pace, and no one is grading anything but your own eye.
